Yesterday the weather was perfect to shoot. I haven’t shot a revolver for almost a year, so I decided to go with four of the big boys. (1} Korth Mongoose chambered in 357 Magnum/ 9MM. (2) Smith and Wesson 627 Performance Center chambered in 357 Magnum. {3} Colt Python chambered in 357 Magnum. (4) Smith and Wesson 629 Performance Center chambered in 44 Magnum.
I was shooting from 10, 15, 30, and 50 yards, and my results were okay after a long layoff from shooting revolvers. Most of my shooting was rapid-fire, single, and double action. The Korth’s double-action is superb, and the recoil is very manageable. I hit 8-inch steel from 50 yards. The Colt Python’s double-action was better than the S&W but wasn’t close to the Korth. The Smith and Wesson 44 Magnum is fun to shoot, but it is a beast. 44 Magnum ammo is hard to find at any price, so I recently purchased some 180 grain instead of my usual 240 grain. Much to my chagrin, the 180 has more recoil and it comes out of the barrel at an incredible 1750 feet per second versus the 240 grain at 1200 feet per second. I fire 25 rounds, all single-action.
